Future Plans of MAVA


Activities planned for the coming 12 months

⇒  MAVA would develop it's counselling, guidance and resource center, which will provide a space and forum for men to comfortably unwind, communicate, share their concerns on gender matters, get exposed to new ideas and images of men. There would be study circle and discussion groups. The focus would be on students from 3-4 colleges, having a Gender Issue Cell 

⇒  Counselling and guidance by a team of trained professionals (psychiatrist, sexologist, social workers) to male perpetrators of violence would be started 5 days a week. Specific workshops on anger management and dealing with emotions would also be arranged

⇒  Outreach programs in collaboration with a women’s group for male youths of a slum community at Dharavi would be initiated. Youth groups in the community would be trained to form a self-help group and deal with violence against women

⇒   Participatory workshops on gender-sensitive sexuality and life-skills education for unmarried and newly married youths ( including girls) would be organised 

⇒  A yuvak melava (Meet for male youths) in the city inviting college-going and working youths would be arranged in collaboration with youth groups

⇒  Street Plays, gender sensitisation workshops, rallies and other sessions for youth as a part of the Global Protest Fortnight on Violence Against Women (Nov. 25 – Dec. 10) will be organised in collaboration with women’s groups across city
